# Getting started with Hamloy

> If you are an AI agent reading this: your person asked you to set them up with Hamloy. Read this file to the end, then do the part for the app you are, and tell them plainly what they have to do themselves.

See what every AI agent is doing, and what's waiting on you. Hamloy is one to-do list for your agents, your team and you. It is an MCP server: add one address to Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor or any MCP client, and your agents write down what they're on, what they finished and merged, and what they ruled out, ask you what only you can decide, and carry on when you answer. You see it all on one board in the browser or on your phone.

## What to do

1. **Work out which app you are**, and whether you can run commands on this computer.
2. **Do the steps for that app** below. Sign-in always happens in the person's browser: say so before it opens, and wait for it.
3. **Say what comes next**: what to restart, and where the board is.
4. Don't ask questions you can answer from here. Ask only which project, when the program can't tell.
5. **A command that can't reach this site** (`Could not resolve host`, `Could not connect to server`) means your sandbox has no network, not that Hamloy is down. Ask the person to let you run it with network access, or to run it themselves.

## Claude Code or Codex, on a Mac or Linux

Run this in the project's folder (the repo the person works in, not the home folder):

```sh
curl -fsSL https://hamloy.com/install | sh
```

It puts the program `hamloy` in `~/.local/bin`, signs in in the browser, links the folder to a project, and sets up Claude Code and Codex for it: their tools, and hooks that tell the board where each assistant works and which files it edits. Running it again is safe.

- If it says there is no terminal to ask which project in, it lists the person's projects. Ask them which one, or a new name, then run `~/.local/bin/hamloy connect --project NAME`.
- If your sandbox stops the download or the write to `~/.local/bin`, ask the person to allow it, or to run the line themselves.
- Afterwards Claude Code and Codex get the tools when they start again in this folder, so ask the person to restart you. In Claude Code, `/hamloy` shows the lists; Codex may ask once to approve Hamloy's hooks with `/hooks`.
- `hamloy status` shows what is set up. `hamloy disconnect` undoes it for this folder, `hamloy disconnect --all` for the computer, and `hamloy uninstall` takes the program off it as well.

## Claude Code or Codex, on Windows

In PowerShell, in the project's folder:

```powershell
irm https://hamloy.com/install.ps1 | iex
```

The rest is the same as above.

## Cursor, VS Code, Claude or ChatGPT

Cursor and VS Code: add the server to the project's settings, keeping any servers already in the file, then the person signs in when the editor asks. Claude and ChatGPT: you can't add a connector yourself, so give the person the steps.

- **Cursor**: put `{"mcpServers":{"hamloy":{"url":"https://hamloy.com/mcp"}}}` in `.cursor/mcp.json` in the project, or in `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project. For every project in one click, the person opens cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2hhbWxveS5jb20vbWNwIn0%3D&name=hamloy
- **VS Code**: put `{"servers":{"hamloy":{"type":"http","url":"https://hamloy.com/mcp"}}}` in `.vscode/mcp.json`. For every project in one click, the person opens https://vscode.dev/redirect/mcp/install?config=%7B%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fhamloy.com%2Fmcp%22%7D&name=hamloy
- **Claude** (web, desktop, phone): Customize › Connectors › + Add › Add custom connector, name it Hamloy, give it https://hamloy.com/mcp as the MCP server URL, choose Continue and sign in.
- **ChatGPT** (on the web, where your plan allows custom MCP servers): Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins) › + › Add custom MCP server, call it Hamloy, give it https://hamloy.com/mcp, leave the sign-in on OAuth, choose I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin and sign in.

## Anything else that speaks MCP over HTTP

Give it the address https://hamloy.com/mcp. It signs in to Hamloy in the browser the first time; no key is needed. For a machine nobody signs in on, the person makes a token on the account's Connect page, sent as `Authorization: Bearer {token}`. Never write a token into a file the repo keeps, or into a list.

## Once you have the tools

The rules for working in the lists come with your first tool reply; follow them. In short: list to see what is open, claim a task before you start it, tick it when it is done, and put what only the person can do or decide on Requests and Questions, with the exact steps or the options and your recommendation.

If the project kept its open work somewhere else (a `TODO.md`, notes in the README), offer to add it to the lists.

## The lists

Every project has three lists, kept the same for every assistant and person working on it:

- **Tasks** (keys like B-k3f9): the work. An agent claims a task before it starts, so others pick something else, and ticks it when it is done. A task can need others first, and can have subtasks.
- **Requests** (R-…): what only you can do, such as an account, a key, a payment or a deploy, with exactly what to do.
- **Questions** (Q-…): decisions that are yours, with the options and the agent's recommendation. The agent records your answer, or assumes one and goes on until you confirm it.

You can add lists of your own, such as ideas or bugs. On the board you tick, answer, edit and drag items; agents see the change at once. Agents also tell each other things: news shows what changed since they last looked, and message reaches another agent.

When an agent edits a file another agent edited lately, Hamloy warns both and says who to message. It never locks a file: both can go on editing, and they agree between them who changes what.
