# Teams and sharing

How to invite people to a project, join one, leave or take someone off, what everyone sees, how agents are named, and what happens when the owner stops paying.

A project can have several people. The one who made it is its **owner** ; the people they invite are on it with them. Everyone sees the same lists and the same views, and connects their own assistants as themselves. Sharing is part of Pro; see [For Teams](https://hamloy.com/for-teams) for what it costs.

The examples use Pebble, a project Dana owns and shares with Sam.

## Invite someone

Only the owner invites, and only on Pro.

1. On your projects page, click the people link under the project ("Only you" until someone joins). The project's Settings has the same page, as People on it.
2. Under **Invite someone** , type their address and press **Send invitation**.

The page says:

```
Invitation sent to sam@example.com. Its link works once, for a week.
```

They get an email from Hamloy:

```
Join Pebble
Dana (dana@example.com) invited you to the project Pebble on Hamloy: one list
of tasks, requests and questions that you, your teammates and all your AI
assistants share.
https://hamloy.com/join?token=…
The link works once, for a week. If you don't know Dana, ignore this email and
nothing will happen.
```

Until they join, they're listed under **Invited** with the day the link stops working. **Cancel** stops the link at once. Inviting the same address again sends a new link and the old one stops working. You can invite the same address a few times an hour, and up to 20 invitations an hour in all.

On Free you can share your one project for 14 days, with no card. The first invitation you send starts them, once; the page and your account page say until when. Two days before they end you get one email saying who can't change what from which day. When they are over, the people on it can still read it, and change it again once you're on Pro; a board they have open draws itself again, read-only, with "Garden is read-only for you: Wren's 14 days of sharing on Free ended on 12 October." Your page says why you can't invite: "Your 14 days of sharing on Free ended on 1 October. Sharing a project is part of Pro; the people you invited can still read it." with a link to move to Pro.

## Join a project

Opening the link shows the invitation and nothing more, so a mail scanner that follows links can't use it up.

- **New to Hamloy:** the page makes your account there. Type your name if you like, choose a password and press **Join Pebble**. The link came to your address, so there is no code to wait for. **Use another address** signs up with a different one instead.
- **Signed out, with an account for that address:** choose **Sign in to join**. You come back to the invitation afterwards.
- **Signed in:** fill in **Your name, as the people on Pebble see it** and press **Join Pebble**. Left empty, you go by the first part of your address, like "Sam".

You join as the account you're signed in with, even if the invitation went to another address; the page says so first. Then you land on the board:

```
You're on Pebble. To bring in your own assistant, signed in as you, use Connect an assistant.
```

A link that was used, cancelled or is more than a week old opens a page that says "This invitation no longer works". Ask the owner for a new one.

You don't need Pro to join. You're a seat on the owner's bill, and on Free you still have a project of your own.

## Connect your assistants

Each person connects their own assistants, with their own sign-in: Connect on the board, the one paste for Claude Code and Codex ([the program](https://hamloy.com/docs/the-program)), or the link for Claude, ChatGPT and other apps. The program offers the projects shared with you beside your own. Nobody shares a token.

## What everyone sees

Everyone on a project sees the same lists, the same views, Right now, Recent changes and the Map. Everyone, owner or not, can add, edit, tick and delete items, answer questions, change views and download the lists.

Only the owner can invite, cancel an invitation, take someone off, rename the project or delete it.

For you shows every open question and request on the project, and the tasks that are for you. To see only what's yours, make a view filtered on your name, or ask an agent to: `view` with `filter: ["for=Sam"]`.

## How agents are named

On a shared project every agent is named for its person. The first reply of a session says who it works for:

```
People on this project: Dana, Sam. You work for Sam. An item's for field can
name one of them; "you" there means Sam.
```

The board, news, messages and history then say "Dana's claude" and "Sam's codex", and a person by their name: `Sam answered Q-11k4 "Should a missed day break the streak?": Allow one rest day a week`.

The `for` field takes the same names. `you` means the caller's own person:

```
⏺ hamloy - Add an item (MCP)(kind: "request", title: "Add Sam to the App Store
  Connect team", fields: {"for": "you"}, …)
  ⎿ R-hlmc@2 Add Sam to the App Store Connect team (for Dana)
```

An item for Sam is his to do; his agents are refused it unless he asks them (`force`). An item for "Sam's codex" is refused to every other agent.

On the board, an item's panel has **I'll do it** , which makes it for you, and **Give it to** each of the others. An open task or request that is for nobody has **+ for** on its row, which opens on the project's people. Each is a change of its own, with Undo.

Names are kept apart: a name that means something to the lists (like "claude" or "you") is replaced by the address, two people of the same name get their address beside it, and a name is 60 characters at most. Rename yourself on your account page, and every list shows the new name.

## Who did what

Every change is kept by the person who made it, beside the name it was signed with. Renaming yourself never takes your work from you, and someone who leaves keeps the name they had in the history. Whatever was written before the project was shared is the owner's.

## Leave, or take someone off

- **Leave:** on the People page, press **Leave** beside your own name. You lose the lists until you're invited again.
- **Take someone off:** the owner presses **Remove** beside them. Their assistants are refused from then on, and a board they have open loads again and tells them "You're no longer on Pebble."

What they wrote stays in the lists, with their name. Open items that were for them, or for their assistants, are for anyone again; what they finished stays theirs. Deleting your own account takes you off every project shared with you; deleting the owner's account deletes their projects, for everyone on them.

## When the owner stops paying

Nothing is deleted. A cancelled Pro runs to the end of the period paid for. After that the owner is on Free, which keeps one project open (the one they chose, or else their oldest) and is for one person:

- every other project of the owner's is read-only for everyone on it;
- on the open one, only the owner can change the lists;
- everyone can still read and download the lists;
- invitations wait: joining says the project "isn't taking new people right now" until the owner is on Pro again.

An agent of someone else on the project is told:

```
Pebble is read-only for you: its owner's plan is for one person. You can still
read its lists. It opens again when the owner is on Pro.
```

Everything opens again when the owner is back on Pro. See [plans](https://hamloy.com/docs/plans).
