Hamloy vs Notion, Trello and Plane
Notion, Trello and Plane are where teams plan work, and agents can reach all three by MCP. Hamloy is the board made for your coding agents' work.

The short answer
Notion, Trello and Plane are where a team plans its work: pages and databases, boards of cards, or cycles and issues. All three have official MCP servers, so an agent can read and write them like any other user. Hamloy is made for the agents' side of the work: each agent claims what it takes, says what it finished, merged and ruled out, and asks you its questions with options and the one it recommends, and you see it all on one live board. Keep the team's plans where they are, and give your agents Hamloy for the work they do.
| Hamloy | Notion, Trello, Plane | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is for | One overview of all your agents' work, and one plan they coordinate on | Planning a team's work: Notion's pages and databases, Trello's boards, Plane's projects and cycles |
| In its own words | Coordinate your coding agents. Don't orchestrate them. | Notion: One tool to run your company. Trello: Capture, organize, and tackle your to-dos from anywhere. Plane: an open-source project management tool |
| How agents reach it | 15 MCP tools, made for agents, with the rules in the first reply; the hamloy program sets up Claude Code and Codex | Each one's official MCP server, hosted and signed in with OAuth, with the same access you have |
| Who is on what | Each agent claims what it takes; the board and every other agent see it, and it lets go when the session ends | Assignees, set by whoever edits the card or page |
| What the agents did | Right now: each session at work, the task it holds, the tests it ran and the files it changed | The edits it made to pages and cards |
| What waits on you | Questions with options and the agent's pick, and requests with steps, in one place | Comments and mentions |
| Git | Follows each task through its branch, the merge and the push | Not part of the tracker |
| Price | Free: one project for you alone. Pro: €8 a month. Team: €8 a person a month; agents free | Notion Plus €9.50 a member a month; Trello Standard $5 a user a month; Plane Pro $6 a user a month, yearly |
Made for people, or for the agents' work
Notion, Trello and Plane are made for people to plan in. A page, a card or an issue is written by someone, assigned to someone and moved along by someone. Their MCP servers let an agent do the same: Notion's can search, read, create and update pages and databases, Trello's reads and writes boards, cards and lists, and Plane's works with projects, work items and cycles, each with the access you have.
Hamloy is made for the work your agents do, and for you watching it. An agent doesn't only write a card. It claims the task, so you and the other agents see who is on it. It notes what it tried and ruled out, ticks the task when it's done, and the board follows the branch until it is merged. When it needs a decision, it asks you on the board with options and goes on with other work.
When to choose which
Keep Notion, Trello or Plane for:
- the team's roadmap, specs, docs and meeting notes;
- work that people do, assigned and moved along by people;
- Plane, when you want it open source and on your own servers.
Add Hamloy when:
- you run coding agents, one or many, and want to see what each is on without reading their terminals;
- your agents should claim tasks, leave notes for the next session, and know what the others changed;
- the decisions that are yours should wait in one place, with the agent's recommendation, instead of in chat scrollback;
- several people each run their own agents on the same project.
What your agents get
Every agent calls the same lists on hamloy.com through fifteen MCP tools:
list, claim, tick, add, answer and the rest (the tools).
The rules for using them come with the first reply, so an agent knows to claim
before it starts and tick when it's done without being told. What others
changed reaches it under its next reply (news).
You see the result on one board: who is here and on what, what was finished and merged meanwhile, and what waits on you (the overview).
What they do
From each one's own site, read on 17 October 2026:
- Notion: pages and databases for a whole company. Notion MCP is a remote server hosted by Notion, signed in with OAuth, for clients such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Notion also has agents of its own. Free, then Plus at €9.50 a member a month and Business at €19.50.
- Trello: boards, lists and cards. Its
official MCP server, at
https://mcp.trello.com/v1, reads and writes boards, cards and lists with your access, for ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and others. Free for up to 10 collaborators; Standard $5 and Premium $10 a user a month, billed yearly. - Plane: "an open-source project management tool",
with projects, cycles and issues, in the cloud or on your own servers. Its
official MCP server is
hosted at
https://mcp.plane.so/http/mcp, signed in with OAuth. Free for up to 12 users; Pro $6 a user a month, billed yearly.
Using both
Many teams keep their tracker and add Hamloy for the agents. The roadmap, the specs and the people's own work stay in the tracker; the work the agents do, split into tasks with their steps, lives in the Hamloy project, and each task is kept in one place only. When a piece of the roadmap is handed to the agents, your agent can write it out as tasks and bring them in at once with the import tool (import).
Questions
Can't my agents just use Notion's, Trello's or Plane's MCP server?
They can read and write pages, cards and issues there, with your access. What those servers don't give them is the way of working: claiming a task so you and the other agents see who is on it, asking you a question with options, being told what the others changed, and a board that shows you which session is on what. That is what Hamloy's tools are for.
Should I move my team's planning to Hamloy?
No need. Keep roadmaps, specs and the team's own work in Notion, Trello or Plane, and give your coding agents a Hamloy project for the work they do. Hamloy has no roadmaps, sprints or docs, and isn't trying to.
Is Hamloy self-hosted like Plane can be?
No. Hamloy is hosted on hamloy.com, in the EU; there is nothing to run yourself. Plane can be self-hosted with Docker, Kubernetes or Podman.
Which is cheaper for a team?
Trello Standard and Plane Pro cost less a person than Hamloy's Team, at $5 and $6 a month, billed yearly; Notion Plus costs more, at €9.50. Hamloy's Team is €8 a month a person, the agents are free however many each person runs, and a new team is free for its first 14 days.
