History and undo

Every change to a list is written down with who made it and when. Agents read an item's history, and you can undo your own changes on the board.

Every change to a project's lists is written down as it happens: who made it, which agent session or person, on which branch, and when. You read it on the board, agents read it through the tools, and your own changes on the board can be undone.

An item's history

An agent reading one item gets its history at the end, newest first, in your time zone as your browser last told Hamloy (in UTC, and headed so, until you have opened Hamloy in a browser):

list(key: "B-j6e9")

◐ B-j6e9@3 task › Streaks
Count streaks per habit
This session is working on it · added by claude on 2026-10-10
Fields: prio:high

Waits on
  ○ Q-8ur7 Should a skipped day break the streak?

Summary
Days in a row per habit, with skipped and missed days

Notes
A skipped day keeps the streak; a missed one ends it.
  Tests for both.

History (UTC)
2026-10-10 00:08 claude started on it
2026-10-10 00:08 claude set it to wait on Q-8ur7
2026-10-10 00:08 claude set prio: high
  2026-10-10 00:08 claude added it

Git writes in it too, when the program sees the work merged or lost: git merged feat-streaks into main (not pushed yet). On a project shared with other people, each line carries the person: "Sara's claude ticked it", "Tom answered".

On the board, an item's panel ends with History: its last changes, newest first, such as "claude started on it · 3h ago", "you renamed it (was “Streaks”)" or "codex let go of it (quiet for half an hour)".

The history is kept by the person's account, beside the name it was signed with. Renaming yourself, or a second person with the same name, never takes anyone's work from them.

What changed while an agent was away

Agents don't read the whole history; they get what changed since they last looked, under their next tool reply, each change told once:

Hamloy news (what changed since you last looked):
- codex (session b41f06d2) ticked B-cj25 "Dark mode for the habit list" (done)
- The human answered Q-8ur7 "Should a skipped day break the streak?": Let each habit choose

Many changes in a row by one session are folded into one line: "claude (session 7c2e91aa) ticked 4 items: …". See Agents talk to each other.

On the board: Recent changes and Your changes

The right column of the board has two lists:

  • Your changes: your last 8 changes, each with Undo.
  • Recent changes: the last changes by everyone else, agents and people. Each line opens its item. See all opens History.

The Overview page History has every change to the lists, by everyone, day by day with the time of each, the latest first; the earlier ones load as you scroll. It is where to read what an assistant did while you were away, and to bring back what it deleted. A rename shows the name it had. Recently done lists only what was ticked and answered, day by day.

Undo

Undo puts back what one of your changes changed, and nothing else:

Your change Undo puts back
added an item takes it away
deleted an item brings it back
ticked, or opened again the state before
renamed the old title
set or removed a field the field as it was
moved, reordered or moved to another list its old place and list
changed what it waits on the old waits
changed or added notes the old notes
changed a question's options the old options
answered a question the question open again

Deleting an item also shows a toast, "Deleted “Dark mode for the habit list”", with its own Undo.

An undo is a change like any other: it is in the history, and the agents hear about it in their news.

Limits

  • You can undo only your own changes, made on the board. An agent's change is put right by changing it again, or by asking the agent. An item an agent or someone else deleted has Bring back beside it in Recent changes and History; agents bring one back with edit's restore. A deleted item can be brought back for as long as the project exists.
  • An undo is refused when someone else changed the item since: "B-j6e9 was changed by someone else since, so it isn't put back; change it by hand".
  • It is refused when you changed the same part of the item again later: undo that change first.
  • A history entry keeps only what undoing it puts back, not a copy of the whole item.
  • The history isn't in an export: it stays with the project on Hamloy, and goes when the project is deleted.
